Faith Formation

  • C.R.H.P. - Be a Formation Leader - Oversee CRHP team formation and weekends. Commitment includes attending an evening training, participating in the last few meetings of the current team’s planning, attend the weekend, meet regularly with your team, guiding them throughout the formation and planning process. Help lead the weekend, participate in a few meetings post weekend. Time commitment would be about 16 months. 
  • C.R.H.P. - Make a Retreat - Participate in a Christ Renews His Parish weekend. Time commitment is 2 days. The Men’s Weekend is held in February each year. The Women’s Weekend is held in March each year. Both retreats take place at St. Anne’s Retreat Center in Melbourne, KY. 
  • United Catholic Movement - Pray for those God is prodding to return to the Church. Reach out to invite people to Mass. Help the Committee with the organization and tasks of the movement. One year commitment, with monthly meetings. 
  • Faith In Action - Educate the parish about social concerns. Offer opportunities for various collections for those in need throughout our area. Flexible commitment, with monthly meetings.
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry - Knit and distribute prayer shawls to sick and homebound. Meetings are every other month. This can also be done at home and dropped at the parish office to the attention of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Flexible commitment.
  • Pro-Life - Assist with Pro-Life parish and diocesan activities, such as Baby Bottle Campaign and Right to Life ad. 
  • St. Vincent de Paul - Attend to direct needs of those requiring assistance. Monthly meetings in addition to making home visits to help those in need. Flexible commitment. 
  • Visitor to the Sick - Visit parishioners who are homebound or in nursing homes on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on the needs of the person. Flexible commitment. Must be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for the parish.

Faith Formation

  •  Adult Faith Formation Committee - Discern opportunities for the spiritual and faith formational development of the parish. Discussions take place primarily through email. Help with programs as desire. One year commitment. 
  • R.C.I.A. Sponsor - A Sponsor guides and accompanies a candidate in the process of becoming Catholic. This includes attending weekly sessions, as well as all liturgical celebrations from mid-August through early May.
  • R.C.I.A. Team - Team members assist with planning the schedule for the year, as well as choosing/inviting presenters for various topics, and attending weekly sessions and all liturgical celebrations. Commitment runs June-May. If wanting to help but with less time commitment, you can be a prayer partner and/or assist with the Easter Vigil reception. 
  • Sunday School - Teach, assist or help in others ways in the program for ages 3-5. Sundays from September through May from 9-11. Must be Virtus trained/compliant and up to date with all bulletins.
  • W.E.R.E. - Teach, assist or help in other ways at Wednesday Evening Religious Education for grades 1-8. Must be Virtus compliant. Weekly Wednesday evenings mid-August through end of April.

Ministry to Families

  • Bereavement - Food  - Provide food for funerals and/or serve at post-funeral reception. Flexible term.
  • Family Ministry - Help plan activities for families. Some work via email, plus planning/implementation of activities as scheduled. 
  • Marriage Sponsor Couple - Trained to meet with engaged couples to discuss marriage. Meet with couples during their preparation. One year, renewable term. 

Youth Ministry

Prayer & Worship

  •  Active Youth - Any youth who wish to participate in youth ministry activities.
  • Peer Leader - Any youth interested in involvement in a leadership role in all facets of Youth Ministry, including, but not limited to, the Wednesday Evening Religious Education program (WERE). 
  • Art/Design - We are always in need of young artsy folks to help in multiple areas of youth ministry.
  • Technology - Looking for some techy young people who can help with multiple areas of technology and social media and media design.
  • Music - We are beginning music ministry with our youth for Masses, etc. (instruments, voices, etc.).
  • Mass & Mission - Any youth who wish to be directly involved in different aspects of our Sunday liturgy, school liturgies and WERE liturgies. Also any youth who wishes to participate in offering retreats and days of reflection. 
  • Adult Volunteer - Guide, pray for, and assist youth in their faith; help with retreats for grades 6-12. Must be Virtus trained and compliant. Commitment level will determine the length of time ministering.

Prayer & Worship

  •   Altar Servers - For those in grades 5 and up. Serve at Masses. Scheduled on a rotating basis with a one year commitment, renewable.
  • Baptism Garment Committee - Prepare garments for infant Baptism.
  • Bereavement - Liturgy - Help bereaved families to plan the funeral, as well as assist at the funeral. Flexible commitment.
  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word - Lead or assist monthly at 9:30 or 11:00 Sunday Mass for grades 1-6. Year-long commitment runs September through August. 
  • Eucharistic ministers - Distribute Body & Blood of Christ at weekend Masses. Scheduled on a rotating basis with a one year commitment. Can also include visiting the sick/residents at The Seasons @ Alexandria with Holy Communion. 
  • Lectors - Proclaim the Word of God at weekend Masses. Scheduled on a rotating basis with a one year commitment.
  • Music Ministry - Provides music for liturgical celebrations including prayer services, weekend Masses and holidays. Rehearsals vary depending on commitment level. Please contact Jim Wolfe for more information. 
  • Offertory Gift Bearer - Be scheduled to carry up the gifts at weekend Masses. Scheduled on a rotating basis with a one year commitment.
  • Prayer Line - Pray for those in need and call/email people to request prayer. 
  • Ushers - Welcome people, take up collection, distribute bulletins at weekend Masses. One year commitment, your choice of Mass time for ministering.
  • Youth Greeter - Young people ages 10 and up to open doors and welcome people to Mass. Scheduled on a rotating basis with a one year commitment, renewable.

Community

  •   Bingo - Work monthly on a Friday evening to raise funds for the parish and school. One year commitment. 
  • Board of Catholic Education - Advise pastor, principal, DRE concerning parish educational programs. This board meets 6x a year, approximately every other month. This is a three year commitment. 
  • Boosters Board - Oversee all parish athletic programs. Term is renewed annually. 
  • Christmas Luminaria - Set up/take down the luminaria on Christmas Eve.
  • Festival Team - Plan and carry out details of parish festival. 
  • Festival Volunteer - Assist at parish festival that happens in August each year. 
  • Finance Committee - Review and approve parish budget. This committee meets quarterly. This is a three year commitment that can be renewed. 
  • Fish Fry - Help with our Lenten fish fries which take place the first three Fridays of Lent each year. 
  • Garden Committee - Care for areas in front of church and parish office. Usually cares for the grounds in the spring with an annual one-day event. 
  • Health Ministry - We serve our parish in God’s house by offering health awareness programs and monthly blood pressure screenings. 
  • Maintenance - Offer skilled assistance to the parish as needed to support/maintain parish facilities.
  • Monday Men - Provide skills to maintain parish facilities on Mondays. Flexible term.
  • Money Counter - Help count Mass donations on Mondays on a rotating basis, or can be a sub on an as-needed basis. This is a one year renewable commitment. 
  • Neighborhood Captain - Welcome new parishioners; request assistance for hospitalized neighbors. Renewable annual term. 
  • Parent Teacher Club Board - Guide effort to support the school’s academic program with volunteers and fundraising.
  • Parish Council - Establish and oversee goals and objectives for the parish and advise the pastor. It is a consultative body to the pastor and to other committees within the parish. The council also serves as a forum for constructive dialogue within the parish community. It meets 6x per year, usually every other month. Term is for three years. 
  • Parish Office Help - Assist with administrative tasks. This is scheduled on an as needed basis.
  • School Volunteer - Offer help in numerous ways at school. This is scheduled on an as needed basis. Must be Virtus trained and compliant.
  • Scout Leader - Provide guidance for boys and girls to develop leadership and character.
  • Senior Citizen Group Board - Help with meetings and programs of St. Mary Senior Citizens once a month.
  • Social Media Team - Plan and manage parish’s online presence. Meetings on an as needed basis, most discussions are via email. Flexible term. 
  • Stewardship Director - Work with parish staff on annual campaign and increasing awareness and involvement in parish ministries. 
  • Welcoming Committee - Create a welcoming environment for our parish. Help with our monthly Friendship Weekend. One year term, with quarterly meetings.
